Dr. Melvin Zeno 

The Vice President-at-Large shall, pursuant to the direction of the President, assist the President in such matters and manner as the  President may direct, and shall succeed to the office of President in the event of the death, incapacity, retirement, resignation, or removal from office of the person serving as President. The Vice President-At-Large shall also exercise geographic oversight under the direction of the President over the Regional Vice Presidents as it relates to their duties and responsibilities.

Dr. Melvin C. Zeno holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern University and A&M College, a Masters of Divinity of Divinity Degree from Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary, New Orleans, the Juris Doctor Degree from Loyola University School of Law and the honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary.  He has received his certification as a teacher and Dean by the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., Congress of Christian Education. Dr. Zeno is Pastor of the St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, Marrero, LA.

 

Dr. Zeno has been employed as a dock worker, Speech and Hearing Therapist, public school teacher and attorney. He served as Assistant District Attorney and is now a retired District Judge, of the 24th Judicial District Court, Jefferson Parish, LA during which time he also served as Chief Judge.  Dr. Zeno was initiated into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity through Beta Sigma Chapter, Southern University and is currently a member of the Gamma Rho Chapter of Omega, New Orleans.  He is Vice President of the Board of Directors, Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary, New Orleans and President of the National Alumni Association of the Seminary. He is a past President/Moderator of the Westside Missionary Baptist Association.  By appointment of the Louisiana State Supreme Court, Dr. Zeno serves at various times as a Hearing Officer, Commissioner, Ad Hoc Judge, Judge Pro Tempore and member of the Campaign Oversight Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, Southeast Louisiana Chapter. Dr. Zeno has received numerous recognition and awards for service to God, man and country.  He has been recognized as “Who’s Who in New Orleans” and outstanding Juris on the bench of the 24th Judicial District Court,  Gamma Rho Chapter, Omega Man of the Year and Citizen of the Year, 9th District Omega Man of the Year and International Omega Man of the Year.  Dr. Zeno has traveled as a missionary to the island of Dominica, West Indies distributing Bibles, conducting revival and teaching the Word of God.  He has engaged in disaster relief and recovery work, gutting houses, feeding and distributing food, clothes, supplies and water in numerous cities and states.

 

Dr. Zeno is married to Margie Loud.  They have two wonderful children and three grandchildren. His most valued accomplishment is that he possesses the “B.A.” degree, born again and washed in the blood of the lamb.  Dr. Zeno’s stated desire is to be remembered only as child of Jehovah God.  His life’s motto is “If I can help somebody as I travel along, then my living will not be in vain.”
